This fort stands witness of 14 battles and is surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Ahu and Kalisindh rivers on the three sides. The fort is said to have been built by the Dor or Doda Rajputs, who were dispossessed of it by the khichi chauhans at the end of the 12th century the rulers of this fort kept changing again and again from Bhimkaran Mahmud Khilji, Rana Kumbha, Mugal Emperor Akbar, until AD/1707 when Maharao Bhim Singh of kota got it as a grant from Aurangzeb It was built over several centuries (8th to 14th century AD) This fort was also under Bahadur Shah and was later conquered by Humayun.
